How can I change the permissions for my files and directories?

The assignment of permissions for files and directories can be changed with your FTP programme.

  • Please log on to your web space with your FTP programme.
  • With the right mouse button, click on the file or directory for which you want to change the permissions. Depending on the FTP programme you use, you will see an option called “CHMOD” or “Settings/CHMOD“. Now you can change the permissions for the files and directories.

ATTENTION: Please make sure you DO NOT set the so-called t-bit (often referred to as “sticky“) and s-bit (also known as “Set UID“) during the assignment of permissions, since this could lead to trouble.
