SECURE SSL – How do I redirect visitors to my website from HTTP to HTTPS?

If an SSL certificate is installed for your domain, you should redirect visitors to an encrypted connection (https://) (previously access via https://).
If your CMS does not offer a corresponding function, you can set up such a redirection with a.htaccess file.

Redirect all requests to HTTPS

With the following entry in the.htaccess file the requests can be forwarded to https://

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^ihredomain\.com$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.ihredomain\.com$
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} =off
RewriteRule ^ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [QSA,L,R=301]

If your website does not work properly after modifying the htaccess file, please note the following:

Probably your website still contains content (for example links, images, files, etc.) with an absolute path (https://yourdomain/…). This so-called mixed content can lead to problems when displaying your website in the browser. Please revise the content of your website accordingly and use a correct path.
